THC Gummies for Sleep in Canada: What to Know Before You Try Them

Getting quality sleep has become a challenge for a lot of Canadians. Between stress, screen time, long work hours and inconsistent routines, more people are looking at THC gummies as part of how they wind down at night. This guide covers what a sleep gummy contains, how to time it, and how to keep the dose sensible.

What's in a THC sleep gummy

"Sleep" gummies are ordinary THC edibles with a few other ingredients added. Our 36-pack THC Sleep Aid gummies are a good example: each gummy has 15mg of THC, 5mg of CBD, 5mg of CBN and 5mg of melatonin. CBD is non-intoxicating, CBN is another cannabinoid found in cannabis, and melatonin is the same supplement sold on its own at the pharmacy. Always read the label so you know exactly what you're taking.

Timing: take it earlier than you think

Edibles are digested before they take effect, so they usually take 30 minutes to two hours to kick in. If you take a gummy as you get into bed, it may not start working until well after you'd hoped. Many people take theirs an hour or so before bed, as part of their evening routine. Our guide to how long edibles take to kick in explains why the timing varies.

Start with a low dose

15mg of THC is a lot for someone new to edibles. If you haven't tried edibles before, start with part of a gummy, or with a lower-strength product such as our 5mg microdose gummies, and only take more on a later night once you know how you react. Never take a second dose the same night because the first one seems slow.

The next morning

Edible effects last longer than smoking, sometimes most of the night and into the morning. Give yourself a full night before you drive or do anything that needs your full attention, and don't mix edibles with alcohol or other sleep products.

A gentler option

If THC on its own feels like too much, THC:CBD blends pair a smaller amount of THC with non-intoxicating CBD, and many people find them easier to manage.

If you have ongoing trouble sleeping, talk to a doctor or pharmacist. Edibles are for adults 19 and over. Consume responsibly, and keep all cannabis products away from children and pets.
